CHATTO® Uni-Locs™ Residue-Free Shampoo Bar is a concentrated botanical cleanser created especially for locs, sister locks, dreadlocks, twists and natural textured hair.

How to Use

Method One: Lather in Your Hands

1. Wet the hair and scalp thoroughly with warm water.
2. Wet the shampoo bar.
3. Rub the bar between your wet hands until a rich lather develops.
4. Apply the lather directly to the scalp.
5. Massage gently with the fingertips, working between the locs.
6. Allow the lather to travel through the length of the locs.
7. Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear.
8. Repeat if the hair has excessive buildup.
9. Follow with the appropriate CHATTO® Uni-Locs™ conditioner.

Method Two: Apply the Bar Directly

1. Completely wet the scalp, hair and shampoo bar.
2. Glide the bar gently along the scalp and the direction of the locs.
3. Do not scrub the bar aggressively against the hair.
4. Massage the resulting lather through the scalp and locs.
5. Rinse thoroughly.
6. Repeat when necessary.

For Starter Locs, Junior Locs and New Twists

Starter locs require gentle cleansing because the hair has not fully matured or locked.

• Create the lather in your hands before applying it.
• Gently press and massage the lather into the scalp.
• Avoid aggressive circular rubbing or pulling.
• Rinse using low water pressure.
• Allow the water to flow in the same direction as the locs.
• Do not vigorously twist or wring the hair.

For Mature Locs and Heavy Buildup

• Wet the locs completely before shampooing.
• Concentrate the first wash on the scalp and roots.
• Use the second wash to cleanse through the length of the locs.
• Gently squeeze the lather through—not against—the loc formation.
• Rinse longer than you would with loose hair to remove all shampoo.

Recommended Frequency

Use every 7–14 days, depending on scalp condition, activity level, perspiration and product use.

More frequent cleansing may be appropriate after intense exercise, swimming or excessive product buildup. Avoid unnecessary over-washing if the scalp or hair feels dry.

After Shampooing

Follow with the appropriate CHATTO® Uni-Locs™ conditioning treatment:

• Use a rinse-out deep conditioner when the hair requires intensive softness and moisture.
• Apply a CHATTO® Uni-Locs™ leave-in conditioner as directed.
• Refresh between wash days with the Uni-Locs™ Aloe Conditioning Hair Moisture Spray.

Important: Always follow the directions printed on each conditioning product. Rinse-out and leave-in conditioners are not interchangeable.

How to Protect the Shampoo Bar

After every use:

1. Rinse excess lather from the bar.
2. Place it on a draining soap dish.
3. Allow it to dry completely between uses.
4. Do not leave it sitting in water.
5. Keep the unused portion away from shower spray.

Proper drying helps the concentrated bar last longer.
