Hair Weaving

There are several ways and reasons for weaving and braiding hair.  In my professional opinion the majority of people braid or weave their hair: -

·         to let the hair rest from constant chemical services.

·         to let the hair rest from thinning and alopecia

·         for convenient styles to wear and care.

·         for hair growth

Most weaves are created by the sewing method.

I strongly disagree with any professional stylist using glue to attach a weft of hair to the scalp.  Be prepared for possible damage in the future.

The safest method of weaving is by sewing, whereby the hair is cornrow or French braided to accommodate the weft for attachment.

Some clients complain of their dislike of the weft because the hair does not move, this is not true.

A weave can flow or bounce beautifully without a trace if it is correctly positioned. Whether single attachments or wefts are used, the success depends on who is designing the weave or extension.  Knowing how to braid hair is different to having artistic creativity to contour your weaving design.

Be aware that you have a choice of having a full head weave, for the hair to grow evenly, or partially placed in between the hair.  When the hair is woven partially with two or three tracks, the client must ensure her own hair left in between is well taken care of, otherwise the braided hair will grow longer and healthier as it has not been pulled and subjected to the rigors of regular grooming.  Anyone who experiences breakage from this method should be aware of the hazard of improper or irregular chemical services or styling.
